Those that know me know that I love science, especially biology. My daughter inherited the love for science.
She was chatting with me. Out of the blue she says, "Mommy did you know that the platypus is the only mammal to lay eggs?"
"I don't think that is right. Mammals are covered in hair, produce milk, and are warm blooded. They give birth to their young."
She says, "Well not the platypus."
"Well I don't think you are right but lets look it up!"
So I go to the computer and sure enough she is right. It is the exception to the rule.
She was so proud to have taught me something. Then she danced around the living room saying. "I told you mommy...T.V. is a GOOD thing."

Baby Boy's Open house and Baby Girl's PE show
He sang many songs for us. There were many funny. This is just a short quick video.
Him showing us his class.

Video of Baby girls part in the PE show "Toy Story"
This is pictures from the entire show. I have more of some of the other groups but they were wearing shirts with the school name on them. I don't post anything with the school name.

7 don'ts after a meal
* Don't smoke-Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).
* Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1 hr before meal.
* Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.
* Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted &blocked.
* Don't bathe - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.
* Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.
* Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine

Um..well I need to tell you something.
This will be the title of baby boy's autobiography in the future. He starts every sentence with this chant.
The first chapter will be titled "Sissis, are you done with that? I will eat it."
The second chapter will be titled "Tummy Time."
The third chapter will be titled "I so sorry. Mommy you're so beautiful."
The up side of hubby being laid off is that he has gotten to be with us more. The kids are keeping him on his toes and laughing.

The Skinny on Eating Healthy
Melon- a watery fruit that is low in calories high vitamines and filling with water.
Green Tea-full of catechines that help burn fat. A low dose of caffeine that helps get you moving with out being a harmful amount.
Wine- Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism said that one serving a day of alcohol gives you a slimmer waist line. If you drink it with your meal it will speed up your metabolism. Remember this is a small serving a day.
Chicken & Fish- Lean protein takes more energy to burn than carbs and fat.
Walnuts & ground flax seed- They contain much needed Omega 3's. This helps your brain recover during and after children. Our kids rob us of this much needed brain fat. (think about how hard it is to remember things during pregnancy and after giving birth) They also help reduce you stress levels. When stress goes down so does fat storage.
Yogurt/Probiotics- Yogurt contains much needed probiotics that line your intestines. This is the good bacteria that your body needs to make your body regular. You can also get probiotics in a pill form. Probiotics cut down on harmful yeasts and are thought to help reduce the amount of fat your body absorbs.
Whole Grains- Peen State research shows that people who ate 5 or more servings of whole grains (not enriched) while following a low-cal diet shed 24 % more stomach fat than those that ate the same number of calories but ate refined grains.
Chili Peppers- Contain capsaicanthat increase your body temperature. This gives your metabolism a kick.
Cinnamon-helps blood sugar and helps you to store less fat.
Grapefruit-curbs insulin spike that leads to fat storage. The vitamin C boosts your immune system and helps you feel healthy and keep you moving.
Blueberries-are thought to protect the body against free radicals and ageing. Based on data from the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (Boston, MA), blueberries are among the fruits with the highest antioxidant activity. In a USDA Human Nutrition Research Center laboratory, neuroscientists discovered that feeding blueberries to laboratory rats slowed age-related loss in their mental capacity, a finding that has important implications for humans. Researchers at Rutgers University in New Jersey have identified compounds in blueberries called proanthocyanidins that promote urinary tract health and reduce the risk of infection by preventing bacteria from adhering to the cells that line the walls of the urinary tract.

Hubby's job interview went "so-so" today. He was asked some questions on a technology he used over 10 years ago and had forgotten. We are not too hopeful he will get this particular job. Anything can happen though right?
Baby girl's teacher emailed me today. She told her teacher she could not play out a recess because she was allergic to mosquitoes. I had to tell her teacher it is okay for her to go out. I think she was afraid of the Crane flies that look like big mosquitoes.
She was doing her writing assignment today. She said mommy their is an un word that starts with a g. Am I supposed to uses it?
Baby boy saw that daddy was sad about his interview and was super huggy and kissy.
We went to a special place that was like an old fashion diner for dinner. The kids got to share their first milk shake. Baby boy's eyes were big as quarters at having dessert before and during dinner.

Sharing
I post journal and blogs in other places. A few weeks ago I pointed you all to a ninja blog. I wanted to share with you on here a couple of posts I made yesterday.
This one was titled; Girl Card
I hereby reserve my right to use my official girl card at will.
Undertaking
I hereby undertake the following valid rules and regulations of the girl card (Appendix 1), to be personally responsible for all uses of said card. I also undertake informing this blog if I personally misuse or lose my girl card.
I reserve the right to be a progressive woman while carry said card. I promise to use the card sparingly and wisely.
Rebecca
What is a girl card you ask? My hope is that you will understand fully at the end of this post.
Ladies I have previously posted about waxing, shaving, and plucking. There are so many things that we do in our daily lives to be girly.
We get points on our girl card for the following:
*Plucking
*Waxing
*Shaving
*Exercising
*Cleaning
*Moderate amounts of makeup
*Dressing in lady-like way
*Doing nice things for significant other
*painting nails and toe nails
*Being a great cook
*Wearing dresses and skirts
*Heels
*Fixing our hair pretty
We lose girl card points for the following:
*Cussing
*Never shaving
*Wearing boxy clothing or men's clothes
*Nagging
*Wearing too much makeup
What is the girl card used for? The girl card is thrown into the ring when there is a task to be done that we don't want to do.
This week I am using my girl card. It was hot outside the other day so we turn on the air conditioner. My husband figured out that our AC was blowing hot air. He called our maintenance guy. A large toothed animal had chewed through the wiring in the side yard. The animal was fried. The girl card was used so that I would not have to dispose of fried critter.
Does using the girl card mean that I am anti-feminist? No. I am perfectly capable of cleaning up the dead animal. I would if my husband was not around. I just don't want to.
How do you use your girl card?

This one was titled; Anything?
"You can do anything you want to do. All you have to do is believe in yourself."
This is a conversation heard universally. Children all over God's creation go to sleep thinking they are going to grow up to be movies stars, pro basketball players, and pop artists.
Why is it that as parents we feel the need to perpetuate this misrepresentation of life? Of course we don't want to squash our children's dreams, but don't we want to help them dream in practicalities?
I have seen TV shows where parents lead their children to believe they have special talents. These poor children then are devastated when their dreams are shot down.
I am 5'2" girl. I will never be a pro basketball player. I can practice every day. I can work out. I can put my mind to it but I will never get farther than possibly being a basketball coach.
What is wrong with telling our children that you are glad they enjoy [fill in the blank] but it isn't their talent. Your child can do the activity for fun. Then ask them to look at something they are gifted with for a career.
Singing is one of those places where you can try your hardest but if you are not born with pipes you have no hope. You can get better. You will never even be near the best. So why does everyone want to be the best at singing?
I strive to balance my children with realistic hopes and really encouraging their gifts and talents.
