Funny Story

My daughter is 6 and will be 7 in less than a month.

Think of the book "Fancy Nancy" but she is fancier. She has always been fairy dust, wings, and princess dresses.

Recently she is moving past this stage of feathers and plumes. She is now into her own very cute style. She loves mixing colors patterns and textures. She is proficient with her vigor for fashion.

This brings us to the subject. She hates to dress up in frilly little girl dresses. She says they are "itchy". She refuses to wear the dresses unless I give her special under clothing or "itchy medicine".

This weekend we flew to visit family for a wedding. I asked my little darling to wear a beautiful dress. I had checked to make sure it would pass the itchy test.

The day of the wedding I put the dress on her and she started saying that she had to wear some ugly leggings with the dress to make her feel better. We were on the verge of a fit. Our young lady loves to negotiate. She finally said, "I will wear the dress without leggings as long as I can have some itchy medication."

I am not a fan of negotiating with a 6 year old. We were pressed for time and were limited on wardrobe because of our location. My mind raced. I then agreed to her terms. (I had no allergy medication with me.)

I went into grandmas kitchen. I pulled out a coffee cup and added about a tablespoon of water. Then I also added a glob of sugar. I microwaved the concoction until it made a syrup. I said, "here is your itchy medicine". Then I prayed.

Later at the wedding her cousin came up to her and asked her how her itchy dress was feeling. She said "Oh it's fine. My mommy made some itchy medicine and gave it to me and I feel so much better!"

I laughed and still am today.

The infamous wedding and dress. I don't have any pictures with me in them from the weekend.

Funny Story and a bit off color.

I was in the other room and missed this conversation but was told by my guest.

One day we had a guest at our house. (I will not say who the guest is because many of you knows us and I protect the privacy of my friends) They excused themselves to the bathroom. My 4 year old had left his play spider on the bathroom counter. He tries to barge in on the guest. The door is fortunately locked. He yells for the guest to answer the door he needs his spider. The guest tells him that the bathroom is busy. My son says, "Squeeze your bobo together and hold the poop in so you can open the door and give me my spider!"

Disney

We just booked our trip to Disney World. I am not saying when we are going because it is not smart to post when you are going to be gone on the net.

Hubby got a voucher from his work today for all his extra time put in. The kids are so very excited.

Baby boy start preschool

Baby boy loves preschool. You notice how similar his shirt is to baby girls first day of school shirts. The other was a tower that he built taller than him and licking the cookie sheet.

New Teacher

Today I was able to help in Baby Girl's new class. Her teacher needed help while they took the map test. It is always fun to watch her in her classroom.

The first thing I noticed is that when the teacher announced that they were going to take the MAP test, baby girl turned green. She looked like she was going to get sick.

The second thing I noticed is that her teacher has a very gentle firmness about her. She is soft spoken but she also had toughness. I really like her.

Third her teacher for the first two weeks had her four levels lower on her reading than her new teacher. This is good news. The funny thing is she read the higher level better. This reading thing is going to drive me insane.

She seems to do very well in her class. She only has 19 in the class but the room is pretty packed.

Natural Habitat

Today Baby boy started collecting the portable phones and putting them back on the hook. Hubby asked him what he was doing. He said, "I am putting them back in their natural habitat."

Sibling love

The other day baby girl woke up in a really good mood. She was hugging and kissing and being kind to her brother. They asked me to take pictures.

The other big news is for the second year in a row baby girl is changing teachers. They sent home a note on Friday that her teacher is being moved to a new school because they have a shortage of teachers there. We have a small number of first grade kids in our school zone.

I have mixed emotions. Baby girl is upset because she says that the school doesn't like her because the do this every year. She is happy because she gets to be in classes with her best girl friends. She had figured out that her teacher was expecting so we will miss out on a substitute for six weeks. I hope the move is good like last year.
