Pneumonia
I was up last night at 1 am and 3 am with Baby boy. He was in the fetal position shivering. His fever was 103.1 . He was pitiful. Even with tylenol and Motrin his fever would not go down. I sang songs to him because he couldn't sleep he was so uncomfortable. He would get every 5 word in between chattering teeth. It was awful. I took him back into the doctors office and they said he has pneumonia now. It started off as a virus but now has settled into his chest. I feel much better now that he is on medication.

Note from baby girls teacher
I wrote her teacher today and I got a note back. Here is the very last part of the note:
The only problem ( if you can call it that) I have with [baby girl] at the
moment is getting her to finish her assignments on time. She tends to
get distracted and suddenly the time is gone. Don't worry about that
either! It takes practice!

Am I 29 or 60?
A couple of weeks ago we went a wedding (pics below). We stayed on a camp ground for the weekend. The weekend was an eye opening experience. I found that I was doing more with the people in the 55-65 age group than the wedding party, who was my age. They would go off to drink at the hotel and I was the baby sitter for the kids. They would go outside to talk, and I would be inside talking with the others.
Yesterday I went to a bachelorette party for my soon to be sister n law. Again I was talking to the three women in their 60's because all the other ladies didn't have kids and were single. They were almost all 29 and one was 34. Its strange to have all these people at the same age but different points in their lives. I had no desire to take shots of drinks. The older people were just hanging out and enjoying being there and the younger people were scoping the men. We were at a restaurant and I left as soon as I finished my dinner because I didn't want to go and party afterword.
I think it may be that I am married and have children. When you are settled in your grown-up life, there is a contentment that comes with life. I have always been an old soul. I also don't drink and drive.

Trick or Treats?
Baby boy would not eat his peas tonight (although he picked them to eat) We don't force our children to eat, but if they don't eat at least some of their dinner then they don't get a snack after dinner.
Daddy was in the kitchen doing dishes when baby boy opened up the drawer with snacks in them. He started to grab a snack. Daddy says not unless you eat some of your peas.
Baby boy gets puppy dog eyes.
"daddy I want you to go away."
Daddy obligees (entrapment)Baby boy opens the drawer back up
"I told you no snacks until you eat your peas!"
Baby boy runs screaming and crying in embarrassment. We all chuckle.
Its funny to watch a three year old try to be sneaky. Too bad they get better at it as they get older.

Low Energy or High...Whats Best?

Yesterday Baby Girls dance teacher accused baby girl of being low energy again. She is right. The question is...Is this a bad thing? She never was a fan of running away from me in a parking lot. She never need to climb on objects and jump down.
Its funny because there is a little boy at school who likes to have her chase him. She told me the other day "MOMMY! I don't run!" It made me chuckle.
Mean while baby boy is moderate energy. There are days that he can go and go but still won't make me chase him.
What would I have done with high energy kids? God knew what he was doing when he picked my kids for me :)

Pillsbury Doughboy
Please join us in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.
Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.
Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
If this made you smile for even a brief second, please rise to the occasion and take time to pass it on and share that smile with someone else who may be having a crumby day and kneads it.

New Teacher
Baby Girl has a new teacher already. Her school was expecting more kindergartners than has registered. First grade was pushing 20 kids in a class. The school decided to move Baby Girl's teacher to first grade and combine some classes. Her new teachers bio: has been teaching in PISD since 1972. She taught kindergarten for thirty 35 years. She has a BA degree from Oklahoma City University and a MLA from SMU. She also has a gifted certification from UNT. She is married to Ron who is an independent insurance agent. She has three sons and five grandchildren. She loves to spend time with her grandchildren, travel with her husband, and spend quiet time reading a good book.
I would have been a bit worried because Baby Girl seemed connected to her current teacher, but she seems very happy with the change. She has connected with her new teacher from when the class combines. Her new teacher seems kind and seems to still have a spark in her heart for teaching. When I picked up Baby Girl from school I could tell that she and New Teacher seemed very connected. I know that this is going to be a good match.

Wheres the Bacon?
Two stories today
1. Hubby just came up to me laughing and looking ashamed. Baby boy was eating some dinner and he asked what green stuff was in his dinner. Daddy stopped for a second and said, "its bacon" It was chives, but for some reason baby boy is into no liking stuff unless lately. He can always get him to eat something if its bacon tsk tsk ;)
2. (nothing to do with title) I went to pick up baby girl today. While I was waiting for the kindergartners to line up, I was chatting with another mom. Her child is in my daughters class. I recognized her face, so I said hello. I said, "your (insert child's name here) mom?" She said yes. I told her how I had been told that my daughter was centers partners with her son this week. She is is your daughter (baby girl)? I told her that is correct. She proceeded to tell me a story.
Last week after dropping my daughter off for the first day of school, she saw this lady's son crying. She walked up to him and said, "hi my name is (baby girl), I heard your name is (insert child's name here). Don't be sad. It will be O.K. I will be your friend. You know your name is the same as my daddy's. So see now you can feel better because we know each other. " Then she gave him a hug.

Ocal Honey
Over the years I have tried to make our home a place full of healthy food. Saturday I went to a local grocery store that sells organic and healthy foods. Baby girl tagged along to go shopping. She heard me say to a friend that was going to by some local honey. (its a natural way to help rid yourself of out door allergy problems)
The next morning she asked, "mommy I want ocal honey". I asked her what she was talking about. She informed me that I purchased "ocal" honey at the store. It was very healthy and that she knew how much "ocal" honey she needed every day.
