New Teacher

Today I was able to help in Baby Girl's new class. Her teacher needed help while they took the map test. It is always fun to watch her in her classroom.

The first thing I noticed is that when the teacher announced that they were going to take the MAP test, baby girl turned green. She looked like she was going to get sick.

The second thing I noticed is that her teacher has a very gentle firmness about her. She is soft spoken but she also had toughness. I really like her.

Third her teacher for the first two weeks had her four levels lower on her reading than her new teacher. This is good news. The funny thing is she read the higher level better. This reading thing is going to drive me insane.

She seems to do very well in her class. She only has 19 in the class but the room is pretty packed.

Measures of Academic Progress

They took the test last year as well. Her teacher last year said she refused to do it and then did it but didn't try. Then she had to retake it the next day.

The testing is a computer program.

They have different levels of readers depending on their reading ability. Some kids could be on a level 12 while others might be a lever 25.
