Before I had children, I would apologize for my house. I was afraid that people would judge me for the one or two things out of place. Now I have two children, my standards have changed. I wish my house would get as clean as I used to apologize for, even if its only once a month. I am watching a friend of mines kids today. I thought I had picked up last night, then when they came to drop off their kid this morning I looked around. My house was a pig pin. I am glad that I have friends that would not judge me for this.

The one thing I have discovered with age, is that most people live like me. Their kids toys are all over the place. Thing fall where they fall. Most people do clean up before the invite you over. I used to think everyone was neater than me. After a few times of coming over to others house when they didn't get a chance to clean up, I do feel better. Its nice to know that I am not horrible.

The question is, have you changed your standards changed? Was it time, or kids, or life? Was it for cleaning, or something else? The pic above was my room in Vegas, shows how all of us lived!

I have always had high standards and that will never change. What has changed is the pressure I put on myself to attain those standards. I don't judge myself anymore if the house is not in proper order or cleaned when I would like it cleaned.

Thats a great way to put it sharon, I don't think i have changed my standards but I have changed beating myself up if I don't get it done.

I choose to have people in my life who I don't feel judged by. I have learned that if my friends are judging me then they really are not my friends. They know that things happen and life happens.

There are a lot of things that sound a lot easier in theory than they
actually are in practice, and for us keeping the house clean with 2
running around constantly getting into everything is one of them. It's
matter of priorities I guess, there a lot of things that are more
important to me than making sure the house is perfect all the time. If
that bothers some people then oh well.
